Holly had this one mostly done by the time she first played if for me... while we were roommates in Nashville. I helped put the finishing touches on it. I was teaching one of the 8 year olds Sunday School classes at my beloved Christ Community Church. I also lead the singing time for the kids part of the time. Probably about 100 kids total. I was happy to share this song with them. And they really liked it!
After music time one week, one of the other teachers, Debbie Banister, asked me where the song came from. I told her that my roommate and I had written it. She asked if it was published. At the time, I said no. At the time, none of our stuff was. She says "my husband works in publishing. I'd love to play this song for him".
When I got into the service and found Holly, I asked her... "what's Brown Banister's wife's name?" She said "Debbie..." (Brown Banister launched Amy Grant's career)
Later, Debbie said that she'd been enjoying the tape I gave her in her car and loved it, but Brown was so busy that she hadn't really been able to get him to listen to it.
Ah, life in Nashville...
Fortunately for Holly and I, come what may -
"His love endures forever".
lyrics
To HIM alone who does great wonders
Who by HIS understanding made the heavens
Who spread out the Earth upon the waters,
Made the great lights
The sun to rule the day and the moon the night
Chorus:
Cause HIS love endures forever
(His love endures forever)
Through the rain and sunny weather
(His love endures forever)
When it's hard to carry on, we must remember our endeavor
And that His love endures forever
To the only one who remembered
Us in our lowly estate
Who freed us from our enemies
And give food to every creature
Give thanks to the Lord of Lords,
Our God above
(Chorus)
